David is the beekeeper at Humble Acres. He’s calm under pressure and devoted to the cause. He also loves bringing our kids along to the apiary, one at a time, clad in tiny bee suits. They learn all about royal jelly, nectar flow, and bee health, and about the delicate role that beekeepers play in supporting honeybee hives.

Most beekeepers use treatments on their bees and hives, hoping to kill and prevent the parasites and diseases that can kill bees. And yet, in 2019, nearly 40% of beekeepers lost their colonies from the previous year (source)

Treatment-free beekeepers (such as ourselves) are the minority. As the name suggests, treatment free beekeepers don’t use treatments, focusing efforts on hive health and hardiness over the long term. Our hope is to help build a resilient, sustainable honeybee population as well as to produce all-natural raw honey.

We collect the honey in summer, leaving plenty for the bees to eat over the winter. We extract the honey without heat and pour it directly into jars. It’s raw, and as close to the (treatment-free, of course) hive as you can be without protective gear! All of the honey proceeds go directly back into building our apiaries full of strong, healthy bees. I hope you’ll give our honey a try!

Shipping & Local Pickup

We can ship non-perishable food and non-food items. Honey never spoils! Happily, we can ship it to you. If you’re local, we have local pickup options as well. You will be able to select your preferences during the checkout process. To get your wheels turning on when and where you would like to pick up your order, here is a schedule of our local pickup options.

• On-Farm contactless pickup is always available! We are located in Dallas, NC.

• Every other Saturday: Contactless porch pickup in SouthPark area of Charlotte, NC

• Every other Tuesday: Contactless porch pickup in Belmont, NC

As you consider your choices, please be aware: It is your responsibility to pickup your order at the designated contactless pickup point during the day of pickup. No refunds will be given for products not picked up. If these pickup options are not convenient, please consider shipping your order instead.
